In a statement, BetMGM announced its expansion into Washington DC’s regulated sports betting market. An expansion possible due to a multi-year and exclusive partnership with the Washington Nationals Major League Baseball (MLB), which also includes a retail BetMGM Sportsbook connected to Nationals Park, scheduled to open later this year.
“Launching in Washington, D.C. at Nationals Park sets the stage for our plans to expand BetMGM within the region, as we’ve already seen great success in Virginia”, said Adam Greenblatt, CEO of BetMGM.
In fact, the sports betting and gaming entertainment giant did launch its mobile sports betting app in Virginia earlier this year as well as in Indiana and New Jersey back in 2020.
This news also closely follows the launch of a William Hill sportsbook inside the Capital One Arena, the first-ever sportsbook to operate inside a US stadium.
BetMGM app is live in Washington DC
The app is available now on both iOS and Android in Washington DC. The app can be accessed throughout the capital city, but local geofencing rules mean players can only place mobile bets when located within a two-block radius of the MLB team’s Nationals Park stadium.
Alan Gottlieb, Chief Operating Officer of Lerner Sports Group (owner of the Washington Nationals) said: “The BetMGM mobile app will enable our fans to engage with the game in new and exciting ways, while the BetMGM sportsbook connected to Nationals Park will provide Nationals fans and the DC community with a first-class gathering place to celebrate their passion for sports.”
Additionally, BetMGM’s integration with MGM Resorts’ M life Rewards program allows fans to redeem their gameplay for world-class experiences at MGM Resorts properties nationwide.
